The aims of Marmara University Centre for Environmental Studies are; carrying out interdisciplinary, scientific and applied researches on environmental issues and their solutions, increasing public awareness about environmental problems and, publicizing scientific findings and recommendations.

Center conducts scientific and applied researches on environmental issues and their solutions by the help of qualified researchers from various departments of Marmara University.  Also experts with other institutions and researhers from other centers to conduct researches, experimental investigations and survey researches to achieve scientific findings related to environmental issues. Also Center supports experts on these issues from in and abroad about conducting seminars, and cooperates with related institutions and centers in and abroad. Moreover, provides educational and training opportunities for future scholars of environmental sciences, publishes its objectives and duties. In addition, Center announces scinetific advises and demands so that legal and administrative measures can be taken by those concerned.

Because of that board of directors and chairman was replaced in October 2012  and forming of board of directors is stil continuing, in the previous term there was a halt in above-mentioned activities. However; owing to activities which are considered to be realized in 2013 our center will be more active.

Duties, Responsibilities and Authority
 - Carry out interdisciplinary, scientific and applied researches on environmental issues and their solutions by the help of researchers and experts of the Center,
 -  Experts with other institutions and researhers from other centers to conduct researches, experimental investigations and survey researches in order to achieve scientific findings related to environmental issues,
 -  Support experts on these issues from in and abroad about conducting seminars,
 -  Cooperate with related institutions and centers in and abroad,
 - Provide educational and training opportunities for future scholars of environmental sciences, contribute to post-graduate studies,
 - Publish the objectives and duties of the Center,
 - Announce scientific advises and demands to those concerned so that legal and administrative measures can be taken .
